Manchester-based artist Hannah Roach is interested in the relationship between people and buildings. Her work explores psychological space and its relationship to architecture. HR approaches the idea of shelter with an experimental view, often playing on ideas of escape using her signature visual language of ladders and utopian ideals.
HR's visual art practice explores the boundaries of physical and social spaces, and how dwelling spaces affect how a person is shaped, through mediums of drawing and interactive structures. Her sculptural works encourage the audience to actively engage and this sensual aspect is crucial as its function is to get the viewer emotionally involved by participating in the artwork.
